Undeserved Misfortune

A Walk To Remember contains an undeserved misfortune with the character Jamie. Jamie is a nice girl who wouldn't hurt anybody. Her relationship with Landon is perfect because they have surpassed all the drama. Since she portrays a pure and friendly character her death was something she did not deserve in the film. An example of undeserved misfortune could be a situation in which student A studies for an exam all night whereas student B doesn't; student A ends up failing his/her exam and their grade lowers by two letters. An example of undeserved misfortune for a film could be a situation in which a man tries to save his family and he goes through this hard journey and at the end of the film, his family dies and he ends up in a mental hospital because the death of his family left him with a trauma.

Conflict

An example of a conflict in a movie I've seen is man vs. man in The Dark Knight. In The Dark Knight, Batman has a difficult time trying to stop the Joker from causing havoc over Gotham. Batman realizes that the Joker is a dangerous man who causes a lot of chaos and therefore attempts to defeat him in his plans of destruction. An example of conflict in real life could be man vs. technology in the way that machines are being built to replace the jobs of millions of workers. Now a days, a man is being replaced with machines that are much quicker and that don't require the necessity of being paid. This could be an idea for a film; it can portray the war between the importance of having human workers as opposed to machines. Humans can then try and stop machines from taking over their jobs.

My Film Job

I would like taking on the job of a director when creating a film. I'm interested in this job because I feel that I can bring a lot of ideas into a movie. Being director catches my attention because choosing camera angles is important when portraying the significance each scene has. Since the director is in charge of making the story come alive, I feel like I will be able to express my vision of a story freely. Apart from taking on the job as a director, I'd also like to be a casting director. Choosing which actors play a role is important because a certain actor may not look the part and the viewers can misinterpret the film. I think the job of a director would fit me because I'm an open-minded person which is can come to an importance when a group member disagrees with my ideas.

My Review of the Elephant Man

The Elephant Man was a great film because it showed the good in people, such as Dr. Treves. This movie had a positive impact on me because it showed that even through the hardest of times, people like John Merrick did not struggle to remain happy. What I really admired about this film was how most characters changed their feelings towards John Merrick; it showed that someone must not criticize another for looking different. Although The Elephant Man had many sad scenes, it managed to display great lessons throughout the character of John Merrick.

My name is John Merrick

I am not a monster. Dr. Frederick Treves has shown that to me. I used to think there was a reason; a reason of my fault, as to why I was treated this way. Freak...the word freak doesn't hurt me anymore. Here at the London Hospital, I feel loved...I have friends and most importantly I have a home. Dr. Frederick Treves saved me from the abuse of Bytes. Dr. Frederick Treves reminds me of my mother; an angel. I know now that the terrible abuse wasn't my fault, I just happened to be with the wrong people. I have feelings, just as any other human being does. I am a freak, but I am a man.

Welcome To My Nightmare

One of the scariest yet most amazing movies I have seen is Insidious. To me, Insidious was scary in the way that there were pop-ups accompanied by really creepy music. Although the pop-up scenes were scary, it kept the movie interesting. The scene in which the devil's extremely red face pops up scared me because of his appearance and the loud scream he made. There are some things I'm not necessarily afraid of but can startle me in a way. Balloons really manage to creep me out because I hate the loud sound it makes when they pop. Another thing I highly dislike is being alone for a long time. When I'm alone, my imagination gets the best of me and I start thinking of situations like someone breaking into my house and killing me or taking me away.

Compassionate Science

I believe that everyone has the potential to make the world a better place. A person should be able to feel compassion in order to help others. I wish to make the world better by helping those who have less than I do. I think it's very heartwarming how people who have sufficient amount of knowledge and technology can help those who have bigger problems than they do. I believe that when you help others, you are also helping yourself. Helping others makes you a better person because that action derives from within you and what you feel is the right thing to do. I know that I have the opportunity to create a better surrounding for myself and I will do everything I can to make the world a better place.

The Future

When I think about the future, I see escalators replacing all stairs and robots in every household doing our chores. One thousand years from now, I imagine a world with much more pollution and I see it becoming a wasteland. I see a future where scientists discover life in other planets and are actually able to set foot on them. In the future, I picture a world where we become friends with creatures from other planets. I imagine much more fast food restaurants and floating chairs and tables around us. I see a future where man is not needed as much because robots will complete the tasks they do.

One Time I Laughed So Hard...

Today during passing period to 4th, I laughed really hard because my friend tripped on a rock and almost fell. We were just chatting and I decided to turn another direction for a quick second and when I turned back, I see him almost falling. I laughed really hard that I was almost crying because when I turned back to look at him, I didn't expect to see him like that. The rock was not small, but not huge either and I thought it was hilarious because someone passing by would totally see that rock and not step on it. My friend's reaction was funny because he was shocked that a rock like that would make him trip. To me, this was funny because it was something random and the reaction my friend had was hilarious.

My Review On Modern Times

Modern Times was a very entertaining film to watch because Charlie Chaplin portrayed a very funny and optimistic man. I liked how the little tramp always got into trouble and how very often people were mad at him. I feel like this movie has no wrong or bad turns because the main character is always looking forward and never lets anything bring down his mood. Despite the little tramp being fired and sent to jail a lot, his character never brings down the mood of an audience. I liked how Chaplin displayed workers as sheep who frequently did the same thing; it gave the audience a realistic comparison to how life in their job was. My favorite part of this movie is the ending when Chaplin's message was to "smile" even though times were hard.

My Thoughts On Bullying

One day while walking home from school, I came across a middle school boy who was being bullied. I was walking right behind him and this group of middle school boys from opposite side of the street started yelling names at him. The victim would tell them to stop saying those things and the kids wouldn't stop. Since I was walking behind this boy, I could partially see his expression towards what was happening. He looked angry and because the group of kids wouldn't stop, he only got angrier. Witnessing this, I wanted to tell the group of kids to stop because it was really disturbing watching this boy get bullied. Unfortunately, I didn't do anything to stop the bullying. If I could go back and do something about the boy's situation I definitely would. I feel that if bullying isn't stopped, the consequences could result in something tragic. Bullying isn't something that is okay because you end up hurting someone who has nothing to do with you and even worst, you end up changing the person you are bullying.

My Favorite Movie

One of my favorite movies is The Dark Knight. I consider this movie one of my favorites because the acting behind the Joker is very entertaining. Heath Ledger, in my opinion, was the best joker compared to other joker characters. This movie is on my favorite list because the dedication Heath Ledger put on making the film was tremendous. He kept a journal throughout the filming of The Dark Knight. Heath would lock himself in a room and in this journal, he wrote jokes that contained a dark sense of humor in order to fit his role in the movie. Another reason why The Dark Knight is one of my favorite films is because of the way the outfits were designed. The suit Batman wore looked realistic and the costume the Joker put on went well with his character. My ultimate favorite thing about this movie is the make-up put on the Joker. As well as his contribution to the jokes, Heath partially designed the make-up that he would wear. This is why The Dark Knight would be considered one of my favorite movies.
